From jewelry to the latest lifestyle items and home accessories: you will find it all at The Urbanista. Each product is unique and on-trend (although we actually prefer to stay ahead of the trend). Hundreds of earrings, bracelets, necklaces and rings, but also vases, notebooks, ornaments, wall hangings and much more. Everything an urban fashionista needs - that's The Urbanista in a nutshell.
Do you like minimalist? Or is your style more a bit coarse and chunky ? In both cases - and everything in between - you've come to the right place at The Urbanista. You can easily stroll around for an hour (or two) both online and in our physical store in the Old Town of Alkmaar. You can also browse digitally on Instagram , where we share combination inspiration and sneak peeks of the new collection every day.
The Old City as a holiday love
That twinkle that customers have in their eyes as soon as they enter our store, with the same twinkle I strolled through the Old Town of Alkmaar on a beautiful summer day in 2017. I have been thinking about setting up a new store for some time now. I had always had a passion for jewelry, and I really wanted to do 'something with my hands' again. I immediately fell in love with the Hekelstraat with its cozy buildings and nice, Negen Straatjes-like atmosphere.
In September I secretly went back to see if there was anything for rent in the Hekelstraat. Bingo: I spotted a 'for rent' sign at the building. Without a concrete concept, collection and name for our brand new store, we took the plunge. In January 2018, my partner and I signed the rental contract, as an incentive to make this a huge success no matter what.
In the weeks that followed, ideas for The Urbanista quickly bubbled up. With my background in bijoux and jewelry and a partner who is an interior architect, we found a perfect match and mix between our two passions.
Sustainable & affordable
A little flash forward : we opened our store in May 2018. This was exactly how we envisioned it.
The concept hasn't changed much after all these years, although The Urbanista has gone through a significant evolution. The market and latest trends naturally change all the time, and we always listen to the wishes of our customers.
We supplement the collection every week with the latest items and therefore changes continuously. We like to continue to surprise! And if there is one thing we find important, it is that every product is affordable, of high quality and sustainable. The vast majority of our jewelry is made of stainless steel, and is therefore allergy-free, water-resistant and does not discolour. You can shower, swim and exercise enthusiastically with it with peace of mind.

All items have been selected by us with love. I put together the interior items by my partner and the jewelry collections with care. We regularly travel around the world and enjoy nothing more than treasure hunting abroad. At a market in Ibiza, in Paris, and from Dubai to India: everywhere in the world we come across the coolest items that form the inspiration for our collections.
Many of our products are one of a kind : we really only have one of them. Do all those unique pearls in the store or webshop give you a bit of stress over choice? We get it. But don't worry: we are happy to help you. We know our extensive collection all too well and know exactly what shines in which display.
